Cybersecurity Standard AIS-189: PKI based authentication Demo for Automotive Vehicles of Indian OEM.

AIS-189 Compliant PKI-Based ECU Authentication

Secure Communication Between BMS and VCU Using NXP S32K3 MCU with HSE

To support Indian OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers in complying with the AIS-189 automotive cybersecurity standard, Gettobyte Technologies has developed a hardware demo demonstrating PKI-based mutual authentication between two critical ECUs:

  • Battery Management System (BMS)

  • Vehicle Control Unit (VCU)

This proof of concept leverages the NXP S32K3X4 MCU with Hardware Security Engine (HSE) for crypto acceleration, ensuring secure, low-latency communication over CAN.

🔐 Key Features

  • Digital Signature-based mutual authentication (ECDSA).

  • ECDH for shared key generation

  • AES-GMAC for authenticated encryption

  • CAN bus for inter-ECU communication

  • ST7789 240×240 LCD for visual representation
